Greetings from Altenbeken 14 May, 2022.
The line to get at 9:00 was quite long but moved well.

The crowd was surprisingly high and many prior vendors and display were there. Quite a few new ones. Alex from the Ukraine was there. We spoke a bit about the journey, his new environment with the kids and such. He was surprisingly still considering on the DCC decoders for the SW and now PA. It will be awhile as he still has a lot of logistics and such.

There were quite a few mini layouts and dioramas and quite a few software integrated. Here’s a few more pix:

    These TINY modules were interesting:

This guy had 3 creations, all paper, including a 2-binder book/

The reason Mickie and I go is that there is a LOT of creativity, in small spaces and top-notch detail.

Yes, thanks for the pictures. (y)

I like that double deck bridge. Over the Moselle I believe. That diorama type is growing on me - hidden staging releasing numerous trains through a beautiful scene.

Looks fun, lots of great things to see. Was Torsja, Svein-Martin, Hans, or any of the Norway crowd there? Anything new with Z Scale DCC or Sound? Did Harald bring anything new? Are you guys having a banquet tonight? :D

Harald (Freudenreich Feinwerktechnik) had some new cars.

I did not ask about other DCC although had a long talk with Alex. He is still planning decoders although he has to get his equipment whom is friend is watching over. This will some soon. He has made some PA and SW boards but they need mass manufacturing. Family is good, adapting and lots helping him there.

lots of new module additions and new stuff too.

No Nords. Did not go the Banquet.
Ran trains at Peter Scheele’s OWL’s Nest new/enhanced/restructured layout Friday (and an AWESOME dinner)

I had planned to be there, but it was not possible for me to go this year. Would have loved to be there, but may be another year.

Hi all, Altenbeken was a blast once again. Sorry to have missed you Jeff. Not many Americans this time, I'm afraid. We were with a few guys from Holland; there were three Belgians with a beautiful layout (Booischot Statie - depicting the west of Flanders); Polish modellers including Pavel (Zdrada) with his minimodules and his amazing harbour module (live even better!). Steffen was there with his Arkansas & Western (See his 'newcomer layout' thread on this forum) which was also great to see. His brother showed that real life switching including the use of waybills is really very possible in Z. There were Italians, including Rafaelo with a minilayout of a "Schwebe bahn" and his Japanese allegoric mini layout.. There were some folks from Israel; Joao from Portugal with his cars, he brought me some as well, lovely paint job! And of course a lot of Germans, including local heroes from the ZFI-scene..

A few links to videos have already been posted, if you have little time / patience, this short video gives a good overall impression in 5 minutes:

They do! These modelers have taken scenery up to a whole new level of realism. In fact, I am going to have to up my game on my modules now, as I find it tiring and toy like. I want realism like these layouts have. Fortunately we have Scenic Express that shows all the cool stuff used to get that scenery magic!
