Here a couple of pics of the new double-deck passenger cars of the Belgian Railways These are the seats on the second level The staircase leading to the second level This is a special low level, only used for disabled passengers and passengers with bikes On the right is my friend the train driver
Beautiful cars paul, and the colour scheme is very similar to Swiss railways (SBB). Apparently these are a great deal better than previous Belgian passenger stock
Alan, they are the second generation of double-deck cars. On the second level of the first generation, the angle of the roof was too low, so when you were sitting at a window your head was banging against it
Paul, I think I read that they are going to refurbish the original double deck cars to the new standard? Have you ridden the new I11 coaches, I have read good things about them, too.
Alan I have not ridden coaches at all . I'm not a big supporter of public transport, I use my car for most destinations. I only watch trains and I make cabrides
Russ, the M6 cars are built by Bombardier in Brugge (Bruges). There will be 210 cars built. They will run in sets of 6 which gives 786 seats. The maximum coupled sets will be 2 (12 cars) which gives 1,572 seats.
RT, when my wife and I were in Holland last month, I told her we should take a train ride to Brugge. She felt the 4-5 hours roundtrip would be too much with our limited time. Oh, am I sorry we didn't go!
Johnny Trains, You missed the most beautiful city in Europe!! What a shame!! You also missed our famous beers
