    Hurricane Irene swept across the New England Central Railroad (NECR), which stretches from the Canadian border near St. Albans, Vt., south to New London, Ct. Parts of the 394-mile railroad have been impacted by flooding, washouts and downed trees. At the north end of the NECR between Burlington, Vt., and Swanton, Vt., the main-line railroad is in service and operations are normal. At the south end of the NECR between White River Junction, Vt., and New London, Conn., the railroad is expected to be repaired and back in service late today, August 30.
