Hello, I'm new to this board and pretty new to HO model railroading.I guess that I'm like most people--I grew up with an old Tyco HO train layout under the Christmas tree.Ahh the fond memories of removeing tinsel from the engines wheels,LOL.
Anyways, right now I'm enjoying collecting I guess you would call it "commercial" trains--IE, Tyco,Bachmann, and etc. I know that they might not be the best quality, but for me at this point, they are alot of fun.

    Now on to my questions
#1--Has there ever been an HO engine or train set that has a Texas RR logo on it?

#2-- Does anybody else out there collect store bought or "commercial" type engines and train sets?Is there really much of a value on them?

#3-- Is there a good book out there that has price guide of sorts for HO trains?

#4--Where do you guys go to buy used HO train stuff--I find them at my local flea markets occasionally and also on E-bay--Is there a message board where stuff like this is bought and traded?

I',m sorry for all of the odd questions,I'm just really starting out.THANKS for any and all help!

Hey Brian, welcome aboard. I think you'll find most of us here will encourage you to collect what you enjoy- i say, go for it if it's fun! I am working on 40 plus years of model RRing on a shoestring, and have loved it all. I just bought 12 powered and 4 dummy IHC FM C-Liners that i got on clearance from IHC for $8.50 powered a $5 for the dummies. For the 120 some bucks i spent on them i could have got one really nice quality locomotive or two pretty darn good ones-fact is i wanted a bunch for my branch line and really like the body style, so i got them because it was what was best for me- that's what it's all about. End of Model RR Philosophy 215! The places you mentioned looking for stuff are good-i'd add trying yard sales and watching for after christmas sales for those 50% off toy clearences. You could also post on your neighborhood grocery stores bulliten board: Wanted, train sets of all kinds, etc. Have fun and keep talking to us, Curt
