    Howdy all,

I thought I'd take the time to introduce myself... I'm Joe in Cincinnati, Ohio - my son and I built a small N scale layout (2' x 4') a couple years ago and I told him at the time that if he stayed interested in the hobby that we'd move up to HO and build a layout in the basement.

Our current plan is for a U-shaped layout down there, basically 14' x 10' with a 6' deep, 4' wide indentation.

I'm looking forward to reading all of your tips, tricks, and suggestions. If there's anyone from Cincy here, please give me the lowdown on the train scene here in the city.

    Thanks!!

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

As you progress, it would be interesting to perhaps see a track plan and a few construction photos. :)

Welcome! A couple of suggestions for finding local clubs...A local hobby store is usually a good place to start, as could be a web search (start someplace like Worlds Greatest Hobby or NMRA websites)

I'm sure you'll find lots of good answers here to any questions you may post.

Welcome Joe! There was just a WGH show in Cinncy a few weeks ago, did you make it to that? Kind of a drive, but if you like modern railroading, look up Galesburg RR Days. BNSF trains and rail yard tours plus a big model railroad show at Carl Sandburg College. I have been going for 14 years and never miss it.
