Quick intro: I'm Bob. Just retired from teaching High School Math, work as a professional Santa Claus. Have had trains since I was 7 yrs old, still have some, started HO, but moved. Now I have space and time and want to get started. I have no clue what is now available. I have some HO and want to continue that gauge. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Bob- Welcome to TrainBoard! You'll find a virtual cornucopia of items available in HO scale. We have several advertisers selling HO, so you might find it interesting to browse through their sites and see what is offered.
Hi Bob, Welcome to the TrainBoard. As to your question...WOW, you have an open book to fill with almost anything you want. Since you have just "moved" (don't know what that means), I suggest you examine various scales based on your current and future physical capabilities based on genetics. Consider the larger O or G Scales if your family aging history for eye sight and fine-motor dexterity may leave something to be desired. On the other hand, consider N-Scale if your long-term physiology won't be an issue (with magnifying lens assistance) and you are looking forward to creating relatively large landscapes with rail systems wandering through them. Lastly, HO-Scale provides a nice blend of reasonably sized rolling stock and sufficiently large areas for creative scenery. Wherever you decide to go, you'll find lots of enthusiastic support and advice on the TB ranging from hammering a nail to scratch-building a fully operating live-steam locomotive. OK, that last may be a stretch, but we're all family.
