Just returned from the hobbyshop, and the new Russians, New N&W Js, and the aux. water tender are all in. The Js were on sale for 115.00 bucks, and the tenders were going for 22 bucks. Not too bad I thought. Will be getting the J after Xmas I hope...Mike

Thanks for the info, Mike. I've noticed on the pre-production models that the #610 was a more subdued, almost-matte black, and the #611 is a shiny black, just like the prototypes. Also, the wheels were blackened, adding to the appeal. I certainly hope the mechanisms have been balanced and silenced.

    Mike,
If i'm correct, your talking about the Bachmann Spectrum "Russian" ? I want one of them in the Western Maryland "Fireball" I've seen they are quite small for a "x-10-x" [10 couple] loco.... I have yet to see one run and all... any of you guys get one before me please run it and all and let us "wondering minds" know how the thing runs.... I want to know alittle on one before I sink $100 into one! :D

I think I prefer the 610 version myself, besides it fits my era better. The 611 is just too shiny for me. The Russians run real well , and The owner of the shop was running a J that was real quiet. N&W fans cant go wrong here. Now if we just had an A class......Mike

I just got my aux tender on thursday. I am very impressed with it. Bachmann chose to do the original N&W aux tender and not the excursion version. I am glad I wait for it to come out instead of spending over $70 on the resin kit.

Yep I saw the resin kit just the week before. Almost got one too, but the price was a bit hi IMO for a resin kit. I ordered the 610 J today, I hope Santa leaves me some cash :D .....Mike

What type of provisions do the J's have for DCC? Did any of you happen to notice?

It should just be a plug like the rest of the Spectrim line. You remove the jumper plug and plug in the decoder. Usually takes longer to describe than to do. :D If you are interested in getting one, you might want to go to the Bachman message board. Seems like there might be a couple of problems with the loco. But the people that posted there have already found fixes for them. ...Mike

Got the J yesterday [IMG] Runs great real quiet. Also no problems with the drawbar or trailing truck, like others have had. Possibly because I have larger radius curves. (36") The trailing truck is close to the cab detial though, so on smaller curves it might hit. Looks like I'm going to need a larger engin house :D Mike
