Mike, I know all about the tripod issue. I inherited my tripod from my late father, who bought it as a set with his Canon AE-1 way back when I was a younger man. Try as I might, I could never get the darn thing to stand up straight. The weight of the camera would cause it to start leaning! A couple of weeks ago, I bought a new tripod off of Amazon. I haven't used it yet, but I can already see how much better the build quality is.
Seems I had a screw loose on the tripod . Tightened it up and it works just fine now . They made the D-70 so it only uses the IR remote . No cable socket anywhere . I'll take it to the camera shop next time I go that way , maybe there is an alternative .
Yup. I stand corrected. There is no wired remote release jack on your D70. There is on the D70s, and the remote I wrote about earlier is what I erroneously recommended to you. However, the little IR remote is pretty handy, and even if you only have a front IR sensor on your camera, it's got a pretty wide acceptance angle, so you don't have to be pointing the IR remote directly at the sensor. At least that was the case on my old D40. For blur-free shots and multiple HF shots, the IR remote would be the best you're gonna do with the D70 and at around 15 bucks, it's not a deal-breaker. Cheerio! Bob Gilmore
