My name is Doug and I've been messing around with N scale on and off since about 1980. Before that it was HO for about 20 years. Nothing very consistent over that time, but there was a small portable layout for a while, but it never got past about 50% finished. The trackwork was completed, however, and I was able to run trains on that layout for about ten years or so. Over the past few years I have been tryng to get focused on what I want to model and have finally settled on a Santa Fe style freelance, somewhere between 1929 and 1951. The current projects are getting all of the locomotives switched over to DCC and converting all of the rolling stock to body mounted couplers and metal wheels. Looks like there is much I can learn around here. Trainboard forums are going to be a great resource!
Depending on how much stock you have, that could keep you busy for a while! Good to have you along, and hope to see some of your work!
Hey Doug, Welcome to TB. You know about the vortex which pulls at your wallet and credit cards , so you are forewarned. We like lots of photos of your layout , motive power , rolling stock , structures and if you do any rail faning, prototype stills and videos are the order of the day ... we like lots and lots !
Welcome to Trainboard Doug. SOunds like you have your project lined up for you; but a fun one the Body mount couplers will make things nicer. Have fun and can't wait to see your progress. Glen
