    Hi Everyone,
I'm Jim Miller, formally of Woodinville, Wa. I moved here to Potlatch, Idaho earlier this year, as my wife died and our Daughter wanted me to be near her. So here I am....living 600 feet from the site of what used to be the largest white pine saw mill in the world (Potlatch Timber Company), comprising of 200+ acres.
I'm 62, worked 28 years in the asphalt business, am into rescuing Parrots (23 years now) and had up to 63 Macaws, Conures and Cockatoos at one time, and a model railroader for 55 years. I dabble in HO and On30. I used to have fairly nice layouts around 16 x20 feet, but now I'm in a small apartment and collect equipment to build dioramas/moduals with. Someday, I hope to connect everything so I can at least have somethibng to watch run. I just recently got into DCC and have to say....it's a blast what with independant train control and sound. Downside here is....there are no other model railroaders here. But the town is sure full of old shay, climax and ten wheeler enginers!

    Welcome Jim!

I saw your intro post was in a hidden area so I moved it out into its own thread. We have plenty of shay/logging fans here!
You should check out the TrainBoard Group Logging Operations Fans and Modelers. Adam (aka SteamDonkey74) as well as many others have posted incredible stories and info from the... climax.. of logging days. (Ya see what I did there? :p )
