I'd been meaning to post something here but every time I thought of it, something else came up. Now here I am three months and 239 posts later. Anyway, hi everyone. I'm in the DC area (Northern Virginia) and grew up here, with a short stint in Northern New Jersey as a little kid. I've been into trains since I was able to crawl, both models and the real thing. As a kid, my brothers, dad and I visited different railroads and rode all of the excursions around here (4501, 611, 1218, 610, etc.). I'm an N-scaler since wayyyy back (check my albums for photos) and now that I've got kids, I'm hoping to build a layout (the most recent plan being a loose interpretation of the Bush Terminal in Brooklyn, NY). I LOVE being able to come up with "MacGuyver" type solutions for scale models and look forward to scratchbashing "fauxtotype" scenes.

Looking forward to interacting with more of you here on TB.

    -Matt :tb-biggrin:

Glad to have ya here Matt!

Your in good company with folks who love to MacGuyver stuff around the layout! :)
I see you have some Lego pillars in some of your album photos! I've done the same thing in the past, but for some reason, seeing them on your photo made me think: Wouldn't it be cool if they made a 12":1' bridge look as if it were made out of Legos! :p

Hi Matt; sounds like you have a nice layout planned. I like that plan should make for many hours of Big fun

You know, once when I was searching for some Lego information for my son, I stumbled onto these:

Real, life-sized concrete Lego-like blocks for constructing real buildings, retaining walls, bridges, or whatever you want! Man, now all I need is a life-sized crane! :)

And while looking for my link to this, I found these (heading in the opposite direction):

    REAL concrete Lego-compatible blocks!

So if you happen to buy some of the life-sized blocks, now you can make an accurate scale model! :tb-tongue:
