I just purchased a boxcar from Micro-trains' latest line. Specifically 074 00 190, a 40' ATSF plug door. The wheels on both trucks that are furthest from the couplers are really rough turners. They both feel like there is a nub or something that is causting them to run rough. Is there a way to clean them up or will they likely wear down over time?

It could be the wheelsets, or it could be the truck side frames (with deformed seats for the pointed axle ends.)

I would try swapping axles with a known-good runner (with MT trucks), and see whether the problem follows the axles or the trucks.

Micro-Trains is good about product support. If you let them know, they might send you a new pair of trucks.

Thank you. I'll run it for a bit and see if it shakes out. If not, I'll reach out to them.

I'm pretty confident that it's the two wheel sets. When I move them with my fingers, I can feel where each on hits a "bump".

Thank you for the advice to reach out to Micro-Trains. They put replacement trucks right in the mail quickly for me. In the meantime, I did try swapping out the wheels with another smooth runner and that definitely fixed the problem. So, the wheels were the issue.
