Matt: To run more than one speaker with a Soundtraxx DSX sound only decoder, you'll need an external audio amplifier. Then you can position multiple speakers on a large layout and wire the speakers through the external audio amplifier to the Soundtraxx DSX decoder. Have fun.... Stay cool and run steam.....
But then wouldnt the loco sound be running on all of the connected speakers at the same time instead of the sound going from speaker to speaker? Sorry to be a pain in the caboose....just trying to think through this all The MRC solution of the train sound moving from speaker to speaker is interesting as well but it would appear that you can only assign one loco to it at a time, unless I misread the info on NScale Supply. Plus, to use the MRC solution in DCC, it appears that one would need transponging decoders. I know Digitrax has this what about the the factory installed Lenz decoders for Atlas locos.....do these have transponding ability?
Factory installed Lenz decoders in Atlas diesels don't have transponding. The factory installed Lenz decoder is a basic decoder that Atlas commissions Lenz to make for their diesels. I usually switch out the Lenz decoder for a Digitrax 163A0 if I have a loco with that decoder installed. Many of your older Digitrax decoders don't have transponding either. I think all of my Digitrax do (the one I installed myself do for sure.....but I may replace them for the whie led versions now). How many locos are possible with the MRC system. My concercn with the sound playing on all the speakers at once....well for that matter my concern about speaker/sound and distance is that my layout will be spreadout somewhat (not as large as some I have seen but not tiny either.). So witht he MRC solution and DCC you can only do one address per? Does that sound correct?
So lets say that I am lacking a brain......how would one wire something like this up? Would the relay be something like the Digitrax block detector?
Is the diesel sound a "generic" diesel? To me various diesel locos sound vastly different (EMD non turbo vs EMD turbo, Alco, GE, 1st Gen vs modern, etc) Thanks!
Mark: Ther is one diesel sound and one steam sound. They are generic sounds. I prefer the individual sounds of diesels and steam, which can be found in Soundtraxx DSX sound only decoders. Tony's Train DSX Sound only decoder half price sale. Stay cool and run steam.....
