The company reported May 5 that the change not only reflects growth and modernization, but also long-term vision. “The acquisition of railroads and other assets and associated industrial development is a primary focus of Pioneer Lines as it seeks to expand its presence across the U.S.,” said Pioneer, which currently owns and operates 15 railroads and provides such rail-related services as transloading, switching and storage.

Pioneer was acquired in 2019 by BRX Transportation Holdings, LLC, which installed a new team of rail, real estate and trade executives. Among their goals: developing new management processes; adopting metrics that measure efficiency, safety and customer engagement; analyzing current and prospective customers to better understand shippers’ businesses and needs; and increasing the commitment to rebuilding lines and relationships, according to the company. The result: The addition of a new freight customer each month, on average, Pioneer reported.

“As a company with its roots in rail freight, our team is proud of the role we have played over the last three decades in bringing economic vitality to the local communities in which we operate,” Pioneer Lines CEO Alex Yeros said. “We are focused on growing our presence across the U.S. by leveraging the deep rail and real estate expertise of our team to provide new and existing customers with additional connections to domestic and global markets. Our aim is to inspire our customers and communities to reach farther and provide them with the right connections to do so.”

Pioneer noted that the logos for each of its railroads will be refreshed this year, paying “homage to their history and connection to the local community.”
