New NS ES44AC

A new NS ES44AC leads a coal train through Leipsic, Ohio. This got me to wonder, how many do they now own?

 

8000-8023 were the first order, built Sept-Oct 2008.

8024-8090 are the second order, built Sept-2010 to Mar-2011... the first 25 built in 2010 for 2011 delivery (it's a tax thing... they were built and delivered Sept-Nov 2010)

 

I see, I heard also that they are ordering some SD70ACes.

 

Yep, 25 already delivered, 1000-1024

 

well i hope they paint at least one as a heritage unit.

 

I caught one in Charleston, S.C. this week. I thought it was a GEVO with black numberboards... then I realized it was an 80xx series ES44AC.

 

At Leipsic we usually get ES40DC's, SD70M-2's, SD70M's, or C40-9's and that about it and some foriegn power.
