I have been trying to expand to more then just modern locomotive detail parts and therefor I have another track detail part for you modelers, BLMA #63 Derail Device.

Also, many of you may have noticed those small white domes showing up on recently shopped or new UP locomotives, I have these available as well as BLMA #64.

Please take a look and let me know what you guys and gals think, and remember, suggestions for new parts are always welcome.

A derail device is placed on a siding to stop and derail a runaway car or cars before they can get out onto the mainline.

Those little white thingys house GPS equipment and maybe more(???). UP seems to be the only RR using this style at the present time. I have seen these on SD70M's, AC4400CW's, C44-9W's, MP15's, SD40M-2's and I'm sure more, so they are out there.

A derail is used to protect people as well, who would be working on a track. These are on all the time at locomotive shops, and only removed when a unit is being moved in or out. This way somebody can't shove in and hurt them accidentally, the train will just derail.

every industry track or stub track has derail protection for the mainline also. not to contradict what catt said but derails usually are only used on sidings when cars or a train is to be left for an extended period of time, they also very rarely work correctly either, i know from experience as many times cars will just run right over then and crack the head right off of them, that's when you look around and see if anyone's watching and just shrug your shoulders cause if the trainmaster finds out you ran a derail you get to serve a few days on the street. nowadays most new stubs that are put in and especially industries on a hill or grade a switch point derail will be placed here instead of the little "dummy bump" as these tend to work 100% in derailing cars. for those of you that have never heard of these they are essentially a switch that lets the car roll off the track away from the mainline. also operated just like a switch with a stand or ground throw.

My Derail Device is a two part peice, and the price is 1/$2.00. These are made for Code 55 rail (or smaller) but will work on Code 80 as well.

Very Nice Craig! I also have a suggestion for another piece since you've now made derails. How about some modern wheel stops that I can use in my yards instead of those ugly old bumpers? That would be cool!

I have seen those small GPS domes on a few of BNSF's early Dash 9's.

I like youe flop over Hayes Type derail. Don't forget to take off the "D".

Actually I don't at the moment although I would like to be able to accept online orders.

N Scale Supply has my entire product line in stock and they accept credit card orders over the phone.

If you would rather order direct and would like to speed up an order, you can let me know what you want in advance so I can have it ready to depart soon after the check or money order arrives.

    Hope this helps!
