The latest Railfan mag had an ad from TRP, the Railroad Press, advertising two new New York Central softcover books featuring the photography of the late Edward L. May. I ordered them. Today they arrived, and all I can say is WOW!! I have not seen such a collection of great NYC steam photos since Al Staufer's books, which also featured Ed May's photos. The quality of these photos is excellent, especially considering their age. I have only leafed through them at this point, and noticed that Richard Stoving gives credit to our own LEW for contributing. Can't wait to get into them deeper. :D [IMG]

Fitz what are they priced at? I am still waiting for them to do some more NYC equipment books. The boxcar one was an excellent resource.

In the ad they are priced at $18.95 each. They have a website, <http://www.alco628.com>, which I actually placed the order from. I was concerned that there was no shipping fee on the website, but they arrived, sent by some other outfit, and evidently the shipping is included. Let me do that website again and create a link. ;)

I have them and at first glance, they look great!

I have a couple of items ahead of them to finish and I'm looking forward to sitting down and reading them.

One of the best photos in the books is this one. I ordered a copy from Richard Stoving and he gave me permission to use it. It was taken by the late, great Edward L. May and is not only in Mr. Stoving's book, but was previously published in Al Staufer's "Thoroughbreds." :D
