Just purchased a Canon 8400F...flatbed and film strip/transperancy scanner from www.newegg.com I am very pleased with its ease of use...its high 3200 DPI scanning ability..although so far I have only scanned at 1600...since the file is very large at 3200dpi...

    here are a few samples...

First one is a kodachrome almost 30yrs old...I didn't take it...traded it along with a few other roster shots for an Employee Timetable ...the remaining I took in/around the Los Angeles area...circa 1983

Are the last two in West Colton Yard?

Notice the temporary yellow thingy that look like track bumpers. Maybe West Colton was still under construction?

Thanks gang....the 2nd pic was taken near downtown Los Angeles...on the SP, known as the Bullring...the last two were taken at SP's West Colton facility...the yellow bumpers are from tracks next to the yard for General American Tank car (GATX) repair facility.

Just sprung for an Epson 4990. A bit pricey, but whoa! Better results than my dedicated Minolta slide scanner.
