Hi. I recently stumbled onto DCC++ and seeing as I already have an Arduino I thought I would give it a go. My Arduino motor shield arrive this morning and I have just tried setting everything up but nothing seems to work. I have 15V DC going to the shield with the UNO powered from USB. I thought I would do some simple tests using the serial monitor. When I open the monitor i get a line of text displayed saying DCC++ etc. When I send a simple single char command like < s > I don't get anything new displayed. Can anybody point me in the direction of what could be wrong? TIA.
What type of motor shield do you have? Are any of the red/green lights on the motor shield lighting up? Remember one side of the motor shield goes to the MAIN track and the other goes to the PROG track. I am using a Pololu motor shield as I am using HO Scale trains.....works very well...I made the mistake at the very beginning and reverse wired the tracks. Check that first.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had another crack at it after dinner and I managed to get it working. Re-loading the arduino code and giving the offcuts of track I am using for testing a clean helped.
