I was out train watchin' today and saw a train with a bunch of covered hoppers (mostly 3 bay ACF type) that had been re-lettered for NS. SOme of these had other decals, such as "Cargill" or "Pool". Has the NS bought or assumed the leases on a bunch of ex-private label cars? I can't remember the number series, but there appeared to be a significant amount. Harold
Harold: I know I have seen this in the past with both covered hoppers and boxcars. I believe it's a case of their wanting to make sure they have sufficient cars for any traffic needs that might arise and probably also getting a good deal on them. Chris
Hi Chris, Thanks for the reply. I was guessing that the NS either predicted a tremendous demand for said hoppers. or got them really cheap off of lease. Harold
