I have cross-posted this with the O Scale Forum. I was fooling around in my junk box this weekend and came up with a new piece of rolling stock. It is a water car for branchline work. Still needs weathering, but here is a shot of it behind my Porter. See the other pics in the O Scale Forum.

Yep, an old IHC bobber caboose chassis (I think the body ended up as a stationary building on a past layout). The tank is actually from an old "Union Pacific Freight Service" piggy back trailor body that I have no idea where I got as I never modeled that period...cut down to size. The water inlet is from an old HO tender and the outlet is from the same tender. The "hose" is of course wire casing...

Well, it does have the right "look." I know of a two trucked water tender, that otherwise has a similar appearance.

The inspiration came from a pic of a water tender kit I saw. I think it looks pretty good behind the Porter and will make a good addition to a maintenance of way grouping or for branchline work...

:eek:mg: Sounds like you've made a project for yourself! You'll need bunk cars, kitchen car, tool cars, a crane, and, and, and.....

Thanks again Greg...it was a fun build, especially for just fooling around with junk parts. And the price was right ;)
