I have cross-posted this with the O Scale Forum. I was fooling around in my junk box this weekend and came up with a new piece of rolling stock. It is a water car for branchline work. Still needs weathering, but here is a shot of it behind my Porter. See the other pics in the O Scale Forum. John
Yep, an old IHC bobber caboose chassis (I think the body ended up as a stationary building on a past layout). The tank is actually from an old "Union Pacific Freight Service" piggy back trailor body that I have no idea where I got as I never modeled that period...cut down to size. The water inlet is from an old HO tender and the outlet is from the same tender. The "hose" is of course wire casing... John
Well, it does have the right "look." I know of a two trucked water tender, that otherwise has a similar appearance. Boxcab E50
The inspiration came from a pic of a water tender kit I saw. I think it looks pretty good behind the Porter and will make a good addition to a maintenance of way grouping or for branchline work... John
mg: Sounds like you've made a project for yourself! You'll need bunk cars, kitchen car, tool cars, a crane, and, and, and..... Boxcab E50
Thanks again Greg...it was a fun build, especially for just fooling around with junk parts. And the price was right John
Looks good, I like it. Gives me an idea for a tender I wanna make so my Porter has better pickup Thanks again.
Well right after my coal tower, water tower etc etc, then some cars to pull, and I am half way through some trees hmmm. I am hoping by next spring or summer. Not really joking either:S But sure I will post a how to probably Like that was in question eh? LOL
