Here is a link to a local news station. It is about the railroad. I thought I would post it because I know Hemi would like it. http://www.montanasnewsstation.com/Global/story.asp?S=7445300 Take care all!:tb-tongue:
I hadn't heard that one before.. Wow, that one pic showed the tumbleweeds over a crewman's head! Took them 5 more units to get a running start up the hill, and blast thru the pile... Wow, where's a railfan and a camera when you need one. IIRC, Hardin, MT is south of Billings?
A little bit unusual. I wonder if those tracks are patrolled by any m-o-w people? If there were any section people in the region at all? Who could have helped clear the mess... Boxcab E50
Funny my hogger and I were discussing this same kind od thing the other day. In one location in western Nebraska this was/is common place. Crews use to toss a light fusee out the window to burn off the tumble weeds. This work until the day the wind came up right after the weeds started to burn and lit up a rather large grass fire. Adam.
Go back to the web site and look at the (down near the bottom) Click here to view Tumbleweeds vs Train picture album It looks like there was a rail fan on the train.
Unbelievable. What Jerry said, never underestimate nature. There's a guy in Tucson that would sell you a tumbleweed for $25 plus the postage. He sold them all over the globe.
That is just a really strange deal. Can you imagine being in that field as that wall of tumble weeds blew up to the tracks.
I am glad you guys like this one....Might need to head south and search for more. Hemi...if we're not home...there is tuna in the cupboard. We are eating with the crew!
