Hi folks! just wanted to introduce myself as a new member on this board. I have been doing MR stuff for 30 years in different scales (G, H0, N, Z) but with many long gaps (even few years) in between active modelling periods. I have tried out Z scale before, many years ago but then the Märklin F7 was the only US option so I dropped it then. Now the situation has changed very much and there is a lot of wonderfull models and I am doing a full restart with this small & nice scale. I am planning to build a small segmented layout, loosely based on Western Pacific, my first 40x80cm module is ready, waiting for the new MTL track and scenery I have ordered as well as the first loco, MTL GP9. Hope to receive them soon, can not wait to start... Best regards, Albert
Hi Albert, Welcome aboard! It's good to see the efforts of the manufacturers to make North American pieces available has had a positive effect for you. If you have any Z questions... don't hesitate to ask. Please share any and all progress photos as you begin your work... it's always good to see what folks are doing. Albert, good to have you in Z. It really is a fun scale. You'll find a lot of helpful guys here on the trainboard. Welcome!
Hi Albert, Welcome to Trainboard! Today at the train show, there was a guy signing his new Western Pacific book for people. He released a book with pictures of all the WP stations, and also he has a CD coming out with drawings of all the depots. I ordered the CD, because I want to make a model of the Irvington WP station, and he has drawings of it. When I was a little kid, we used to play at that station. They closed it down in 1955, and just used it as storage. I live 1 block from the site right now, but the station was moved in the 1980's to Niles, and used as a storage shed there. There is still an old WP Steel Bay Window caboose in Niles, next to the WP Niles station.
welcome Albert ! You have some neighbors in the Oslo Norway area that are quite active here. On one of my future trips to our manufacturing site on Årland (Mariehamn), I can try to stop by ! .
