A variety of photos from the last year documenting the fabrication of battery box, fuel tank cover, side panels, cab gutter, and dynamic brake cooling grid. During the summer of '06, thieves stole over $35,000 worth of metal, including all of 190's traction motor cables which were later found stripped. Work continues on the mechanical aspects of the locomotive, such as inspecting the prime mover thoroughly, and installing some electrical components. Argh. That's sad news. If they found those cables, did they also catch the guilty scum? Boxcab E50
No, but Doyle WELDED the fence closed so they can't get in the way they did. He was PO'd. If you could be in the Brooklyn roundhouse right now you would see the 4449 jacked up over the pit and the No. 2 drivers dropped, partially, again. Both bearings were worn and they are suspecting a change in the makeup of the oil they have been using for years to lube the bearings. One of these was just rebuilt and re-babbitted before the doubleheader trip last month. That roundhouse is such a great place. :teeth:
