Darren, this is going to be one of the great restorations of our time that doesn't involve steam. Doyle has committed to making this baby run. I want to be there when the Alco motor gets fired up for the first time. [IMG]

I'm keeping close tabs on it as well. For those that might ask why I posted this in the D&H forum, this is D&H#18 and before that, SF#62L. Doyle also brought back D&H#16 (SF#59L) from Mexico but is not scheduled to be restored to working condition.

This will be a banner day for railfanning, when the engine is fired up. Can't wait for those photos!

Or better yet, action video. In fact, this restoration process would be fantastic material for a DVD!!!! Anyone doing it?

You might want to ask Doyle if he has plans as they have a ton of photos of the process plus there are some think me that have photos of them coming from Mexico to Albany, OR.

As you can see from Darren's link, there was a lot of coverage of the move. I don't know how extensive the photo coverage of the restoration was until Chris Fussell started shooting his pix. James Aslaxen was covering it for a while but I am pretty sure he is in college back east. I don't know about a DVD unless it was narrated by someone like Doyle, but how about a book or photo CD? BTW Doyle is an excellent photographer in his own right and the last time I saw him shooting, he was using a large format camera so probably has some super shots of his own. :D

I'm sure a nice DVD could be put together if everyone that has taken photos would share their work from the SF Days forward to the completed restoration. The problem is obtaining the permission from so many people and then putting it together and producing it. I've done one already here on TrainBoard and it took a bit just to get an hours worth on material. This would take allot more cooperation from allot more people to do this one.

For D&H#18 it is now owned by Doyle McCormack and he is restoring it for himself and thus he has choosen that it will now be NKP#190. He also was involved with D&H#16 coming back from Mexico and the plan is it will be made into a museum display back into the original SF colors.

As for #17 & #19, they are still in Mexico as museum displays in the FNM colors

The NKP#190 will be "Operational" as a Private engine owned by the man himself. This is why so many people are watching the restoration no matter if you are NKP, D&H, SF, or another Railfan of PA engines.

The D&H#16 I understand is to go to the Smithsonian Institution back in the original SF Colors; but will only be a hollow shell.
