Has everyone forgotten? November is National Model Railroad Month. What are you doing to Promote or Celebrate the hobby? My Club is attending the Bloomington-Normal Model Train Show this coming Sunday. Unfortunetly, it's only a one day show and another show is being held in East Peoria (30 minutes away) the same day. Because we are setting up our Modules in Bloomington, we will not be going to Peoria. [IMG] I've tried to suggest to the operators of these shows to get together and change the dates so we could attend both but to no avail. [IMG] Anyway, for those of you that can attend both shows, DO SO! Anyone else have any plans? Have fun and HAPPY NATIONAL MODEL RAILROAD MONTH!

Our club will be having a three day open house over the Thanksgiving weekend. We've got flyers out, and get publicity from the local paper, and we've usually had a fair draw with our past open houses.

The Grand Valley Model Railroad Club is hosting an open house and swap meet on the grounds of Cross Orchards Historical Farms in
Grand Junction, CO on Saturday, November 18.
Hours are 10 to 5, and admission to the swap meet is one dollar, with hobo stew being served for $1.50; this includes soda and chips.
To just see the sectional RR in operation, it's free. However, donations are
    accepted [IMG]
Those of you in the area are more than welcome to stop by [IMG]

Although for me every month is National Model Railroad Month [IMG], I guess my contribution is beginning the new layout with my 4-year-old...what better way to celebrate the month than that [IMG]!! Happy Modeling, this month and EVERY month!!

Uh-oh, I had completely forgotten November is National Model RR Month! [IMG] I suppose I'll get five lashes with a piece of flextrack. [IMG] I guess my only saving grace is that my club planned our open house for this month (this weekend, matter of fact!). See the thread in this forum on California Southern for more details, and to check out the new FAQ page on our website. If taking part in a big RR-club open house doesn't help redeem me, I don't know what will! [IMG]

  7. All we're doing this year is puttin in an appearance at a GATS show with an informational table, handouts and a computer slide show. The next table is one of our members with his HO-on-a-door (A-Dor-a-ble) layout. The combination always produces good comments.

Ah, but next year will be quite different and we are already lining up layouts, modules and Beginner How-To demonstrations for a big promo with a local Lions Club in a local High School.

No clubs in Georgetown unfortunately but I guess I am part of the problem. Should do something to get one going. Went to a hobby show at the begining of the month and there were NTRACKERS there from Erin Mills down in Mississauga. I could join them. I did visit a hobby store today and bought a couple of things. 90% of what he sells comes from the US and with the Canadian dollar so low it costs him $1.70 Canadian to buy $1.00 US dollars worth of goods. Makes this hobby very expensive here. Hard to attract newcomers.
