Okay... call me a noob but I just found out there actually are narrow gauge products for N Scale. And the beauty of it all is that it uses Z Scale track. Does anyone here model Nn3 and, if so, are you running it on the same layout with standard N Scale? The idea sounds like great fun to me... expensive, but great fun.
I have been working on it a little. It's expensive, especially when it comes to the locos and loco kits. Check out the Nn3 yahoo group and also republiclocomotiveworks.com for Nn3 hints and stuff.
I don't but wish I did Here are some links to previous threads about this: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=90487 http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=90460
Nn3 has been intriguing for many years. (As has HOn30.) I have seen and admired some excellent efforts. But, with one hand much less than completely functional, and eyesight that's not as good as previous decades, sticking with N scale itself is sometimes a chore. Boxcab E50
I would like to do a small Nn3 layout someday, based loosely on the line that ran through my families land in CA. I think total miles was under 10, but it had alot of charm.
For Nn3 check out www.Nn3.org and do look at the snake river railroad link . If you did not know it was Nn3 you would think it O or Ho. He did a gang buster job. rich www.rslaserkits.com
No problem! These might be nice to have on Railseek if they are not already there. I highly recommend the Nn3 Yahoo group. I am a member of the group, but by no means a major contributor. A large number of folks who are very knowledgeable are members of that group. Adam
also check out http://www.republiclocomotiveworks.com/ republic locomotive works. I have bought a lot of detail parts from Marshall. a great gent to deal with. a lot of the items work for N scale as well. With my recent new love affair with Bachmann Spectrum On30, I'm thinking of reducing my N scale as it is, so NN3 is kinda out for me. gets too small and too expensive, but really neat stuff.
I have a little Nn3 that I took on really just for the challenge of it. It's definitely allot of fun watching such tiny things moving around on their own. Give it a try, I bet you'll like it! -Cody
Here's a plug for acousticco... Cody's been doing some great stuff with kit building and scratch-building!
That is just too cool! Man-o-man makes me want to start a layout in Nn3!! Of course if I did that I would have to spell "Nn3" "D-I-V-O-R-C-E"
This is my latest project. Converting a Con Cor Galloping Goose from standard N to Nn3. Runs nice on my Nn3 test loop. Now I have to change it from a fictional D&RGW to say Rio Grande Southern. I got it for half price so can't complain. I wanted one in Pen Central but could not find that one.
