Hopefully I will get mine today from George but its awful silent here regarding these units. Doesn't anyone have these yet and want to review them? Yest I know the Atlas board is all a fire over the 3 pole motor but I can't really be bothered with that until I see for myself. The reviews have been great. If Ron Breadon says its a fine locomotive I have to believe it is top notch regardless of 3 or 5 pole motor. I do wish it will creep along, that seems important yet all say it doesn't however it is smoothe and slow. Mike
I have three of the undecs undergoing painting for Weyerhaeuser Timber Company. These are some very awesome units to say the least. I han hardly hear mine run, and they pull pretty good. I had one last night pulling 6 walthers log cars, and 6 40' skeleton cars all loaded with resin and wood loads, and it had no problem. And they creep along nicely!
The silent characteristic has been mentioned in other threads, too. I've been keeping up to date with the general "mele" over at Atlas. I too could care less if its a 3 or 5 pole. I want it to run smooth and more importantly I want to be able to use it as a switcher in my big yard. As long as I can use it to shuffle cuts of cars and classify, I'll be very happy. I am planning to use under track magnets (more than likely those super rare-earth magnets) to uncouply cars in the body tracks.
I'm waiting for mine to arrive. When I went to DMT in Dallas last week. They hadn't received their shipment from their suppliers. That was on Wednesday November 23. Stay cool and run steam.....
