mmi16, your crews and subs did a fantastic job rebuilding the NO&M sub from Gentilly Yard through the Louisiana swamps and along the Mississippi Coast! I have had the pleasure of sitting at various grade crossings and other railfanning locations over the past month, and I have not seen the first rocking loco or car. Now that's AWESOME, especially when compared to this line's profile before August 29th...WELL DONE! [ March 20, 2006, 07:34 PM: Message edited by: Hytec ]
Is rail traffic coming back up to "normal" levels again? Are the bridges now all finished? Boxcab E50
Traffic appears to be flowing at about the same density as before Katrina. Although there seem to be fewer stack trains, at least during daylight hours.
I sure wish someone would produce a video on this project. It would be great viewing. Very instructional. Boxcab E50
Ken, that would be nice, but I doubt if anyone even thought about it, what with everything else that needed doing.
Amtrak Sunset Limited is still stopping and turning around in New Orleans. They have not started up the continuation to Florida yet. Trains are actually on time or even early getting into Houston from New Orleans for a change.
