California State Railroad Museum Railfair. Unbelievable for steam fans. Unfortunately it only takes place about once every ten years. Non contest because: a. It's 600 miles from home. b. No tracks within 25 miles of my home. www.pioneer.net/~fitzrr/promntry.jpg
Fitz ... you got that right my friend! I have attended every railfair at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, including it's opening day! I am always amazed at how many different steam locomotives of all types and from all eras are brought there! I like your photograph. You don't see much black and white phography anymore, but it sure lends for dramatic imaging when the light is right. Thanks for sharing it with us. ------------------ Bill "Get Goosed on the Yreka Western"
For folks who do not have tracks within 25 miles of their homes, we'll make some exceptions Charlie ------------------ Ship It On The FRISCO!
Fitz, Does the Willamette & Pacific still run to Toledo? If it does, thats only 23 miles from Waldport. ------------------ Jim Harrawood Utah Rails
I got UP tracks at the end of my street...300 yards away. The only problem is they built a 10' sound wall, and the only traffic is auto carriers these days. Within a couple years BART will be running there too.
I will be at the next railfair, I got a nice invitation from a Royal Hudson passenger to use their home instead of a hotel! Very nice! Happy Railroading!!
