Have you put train projects on the side to create any Christmas gifts this year? A couple months ago I got a laser engraver/cutter that I thought would nicely complement 3D printing. So for Christmas I thought I'd use the two tools to make an ornament that represents a miniature Christmas Carousel Pyramid. These pyramids were a common sight for me this time of year when I was a kid living in Germany. The wooden railing was cut by the laser and the fan blades were engraved and cut to inset a 3D printed fan blade frame. Everything else is resin printed. I started designing it last week which was WAY too late in the game and ended up finally completing these Christmas morning. I was doing last minute cutting and painting but did finish in time for the family get together. This is just over 3" tall and does actually spin (no candle power though): Now I need to get the machines back to doing trains!! So how about you? Any Christmas projects with your gear this year?? Cheers -Mike
Very nice!! I've done some non-train stuff but kind of train related as I did it for electrical projects. I've also printed some items to fix or build other things but nothing artistic or as cool as that. Sumner
Only non train related stuff is dungeons and dragons miniatures for my niece. I enjoy printing them, having painted such miniatures myself a long time ago. Edit: Oh! Nearly forgot, my mother asked me for some Rabbits and squirrels for her Christmas village this year. As a joke, I printed them a scale size... The squirrel is 5mm high, the rabbit is 10mm. My daughter painted them afterwards (no pictures).
There is a no politics policy on this forum, whether it's brought up jokingly, or otherwise. As staff, we are charged with trying to keep politics out when we see it, or bought to our attention. Very often a simple political remark will turn people off, and will spin into a direction not desired or intended. Not trying to be obtuse, just explaining what took place. I read your post and I agree with the action taken.
Anyway. It’s a pun my wife made on mistletoe so I made it for her and hung it in our entryway. There was no political intent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
