I used the search function to see if I could find information on if the search function was working or not and it said it was not working. Does that mean it worked?
For years I've supplemented my TB searches with Google when looking for something very specific. For example, if you'd like to search for "frame rot" topics in Trainboard, type this in the Google search bar: "frame rot" site:trainboard.com This type of search string should work in other search engines out there as well. In some ways I find Google's search more helpful because of the images included in the search results. I know, that doesn't solve the gremlins in our search plugin, but hopefully that will help some of you find what you're looking for when our search is misbehaving. Cheers -Mike
Well, I tried it again and again it is still not working. Will it ever return? Or, as the Kingston Trio once sang, "Will it ride forever beneath the streets of Boston. . ." Cue the banjo music .
It has not worked well or at all for years. I have been on this forum for nearly 10 years now and it hasn’t ever been useful. I couldn’t even find my own threads with it, and I knew the exact name of the thread.
Again, it probably never will. According to bottom footer this 2016 Xenforo software is at least eight years old and, if one were to "upgrade" to match the latest version of .PHP, then chances are most "style customizations" would be overwritten and we'd have to recode all from scratch again. I speak from personal experience with Vbulletin software and have seen much stock "functionality" gone by the wayside as well but it's the price we pay for living in the modern "hacked" world! I use "startpage" (instead of google) and just found most of my prior threads by searching "trainboard" and username "michaelclyde" (or insert diff topic here) . . It's a "spend more money" thing & Big Brother is Watching YOU!
