On the way down to our scrimmage in Belfry, KY, we took US-52 down thru WV to get there (shorter than 23) and I watched the tracks. Didn't see a single train except for a NS consist heading north when we got close to Belfry. I saw a couple orange trains that looked like track trains. Were they repairing the track yesterday?

There is a work curfew in place on the Pocahontos Division from 12am to 12pm (or was it 2am to 2pm)for the tunnel work for the Heartland Corridor

I don't think there are any tunnels along that rail. It's a dual (sometimes triple) rail line running from one line in Huntington, WV south along the Little Sandy and Route 52.

There are when you get towards Williamson, WV on US 52... you've got Big Sandy #7, #4, #3, #2 and #1 tunnels as well as Williamson tunnel... not that any of those are being worked on right now.

Point is is that a work curfew basically shuts the line down... the affected segment being shut down may be nowhere near you at the time, but it's going to have an effect regardless.

Ohhh. Well, the only thing I saw was a 4-engine consist and a few empty separated coal trains along the middle and far tracks. Meh, I like the CSX line better anyways. More traffic. :D

thats strange because the other day i saw a NS Rail train lead by a NS GP40-2 and a NS Hi-hood (hi-nose) GP38-2 which was the highlight of the day
they were hauling a surprise and it was a Norfolk Southern Rail Train with the orange Southern "Rail Cars" the rail was brand new all fully loaded with a Nice sounding RS3L
on the leader the train was heading north

The one I saw had 4 NS engines ( didn't see what kinds or the #'s ) leading a mixed freight north towards Huntington. They had extremely squeaky brakes or wheels though, everyone on the bus started *****ing.
