Hello, long time LGB guy and have gone off the deep end and gotten rid of all(except a couple for under Christmas trees) of my G scale and just starting with N.

Put a couple of N building kits together and have 3d printed several small buildings. This is fun while I decide everything else.

I have picked up a 2.5x4' table that will be my first n layout. Will model G M & O in the 1940-60s time frame.

DCC and sound all the way and will start with Digitrax Zephyr or Power Pad and build from there.

Retired and 74 so have a lot more time than money but looking forward to this adventure.

    Wish me luck

Welcome Wally. A great prototype you've chosen with the GM&O. (y) The only GM&O unit I ever got a picture of was GP-35 638 on 03/18/1984 at Tuscaloosa, AL. Found a few freight cars too.

Welcome to TrainBoard Wally! N scale is the way to go. Will be neat to see a GM&O layout come together. (y)

First of all, welcome to TrainBoard! Second, thank you for modeling the GM&O. I used to model that in N-scale. I now model the GM&O in 1/384, Omega scale. (1940's-time frame) I build stuff and post pics from time to time. I believe you will enjoy N-scale. Many like-minded N-scaler's on here.

Welcome to N scale - really, the only scale that makes any sense.

Yep, Atlas made RS-1s, RS-3s, FA-1s, FB-1s, GP-30s, GP-35s and GP-38s. Broadway Limited made 4-6-2s (USRA Light), Life-Like, PA-1s, @gmorider 's FA-1/FB-1s, RS-2s and DL-109s, Hallmark a brass DL-109 and Arnold an S-2. There are probably others out there. Plus, there are a bunch of freight cars and nice cabooses. It may take a bit of searching to find these, but you should be "in tall cotton". :)

Atlas/Kato RS-1, gm&o boxcar, and gm&o 3 bay covered hopper is on the way. Next is adding sound and getting entry level dcc. Leaning Digitrax Zephyr but have not ruled out NCE" power pad. Next week will be fun!
