Navatex: Your method has been very successful for me. I use six AA NiMH batteries in my Nikon 5000. Since discharging them completely before recharging, I have not had to recharge the batteries; I am still waiting to record the number of photos before recharging. I think the key was to use the flashlight to completely discharge the battery. I was surprised at how long the flashlight would burn after I had removed what I thought was a discharged battery from the camera. Thanks for the help.
I took 300 pictures using six NiMH rechargeable batteries over a 30 day period. This is many more pictures than I was taking before. I attribute this to Navatex's complete discharge technique using a flashlight. More info in about 30 days on another group of AA NiMH batteries.
AA Lithium Batteries When we started this (Jan, 2006) thread I couldn't find any Lithium AA batteries anywhere. I presumed they were not produced at the time. They are now available at this time. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4291458
These are non-rechargeable batteries, Flash. I wouldn't recommend trying to recharge them. Li-Ion rechargeables in AA packages are available but generally rated at 3.7V rather than the normal 1.2V used in NiMH and NiCd cells. The latest technology is Li-polymer of greater capacity and less size/weight.
Li Better I had thought I would get a Li rechargable AA battery and that would be better. That is the only sense of "stuck." NiMH are fine with me.
