I received a mail-order catalog the other day for HistoricRail.com. They have a lot of railroad memorabilia for a variety of “fallen flag” roads. In particular, the company had several prints (18”x 24” and 24” x 36” posters) of the 20th Century Limited. However, they didn’t have the one I’ve been looking for.

The poster I want has three 20th Century Limited Locomotives lined up with only the front of the smoke boxes visible. You all have probably seen this picture because it’s one of the classic images of the 20th Century Limited. This print even appeared in some modern art books I’ve seen that cover art deco design.

Despite my poor attempt to describe this print, does anyone know where I can get one?

Hi Mark here is a poster site that has train posters in it. You go down to TRANSPORTATION and click on it then look for TRAINS on the list. I hope the one you are looking for is there.

Mark, when you mention art deco, I assume the one you are looking for features the streamlined Hudsons. I have one that has Hudsons, pre-streamlining, with 5200, 5201, and 5222. It was featured on the dust jacket, and within, Al Staufer's book "Thoroughbreds". Does this photo ring any bells?

Jim, I believe the original photo from which yours was cropped was taken by Ed Nowak either at La Salle Street station, or at the Chicago Engine Terminal ... could be mistaken, though. [IMG]

Hank, I think I confused things there. I was talking about another photo, not the one I posted, and that one is from Harold Vollrath's collection, taken in Albany right after all three of those beautys were delivered. [IMG]
Mark, this is the photo I referred to as "pre-streamlining". :D
