Does anyone know if the NYCHS offers the ORER like the Pennsy HS does? I can't seem to find anyone to contact at the their website, only email address is to their Webmaster.
Randy, I have to admit my ignorance here. What does ORER stand for? Whatever it is, the NYCSHS is a difficult organization to deal with. The current President, Tom Gerbracht, is a straight shooter and computer guy. I suspect he has been overwhelmed by the older generation there that only functions by snail mail, and I MEAN SNAIL. Months to get a reply. Let me know and I will try to contact Tom. He used to contribute here.
The ORER is the 'Official Railway Equipment Register' and is a big thick book listing all of the freight equipment of all railroads for the period that it is put out. The NMRA has two reproducitons for sale, the 1943 and 1953 versions. I'm not aware of any ORER that lists only one railroad, so I'm assuming that the Pennsy folks have taken the info from an ORER. If that's the case, did they get all of the lines that the Pennsy owned? Or is it an all time roster? ORER is a Copyrighted name.
