Since it would seem that my Railroads of Madison County is adding more and more Central info, I would like to put together a list of web sites having New York Central information or dedicated to the Central. It could be anything from P&LE to Michigan Central to the Big Four. Anything about the Central.

URLs and info would be appreciated.

Here is my list to date. Fitz, your site's scripting doesn't work well with older Netscape, thus the note to use IE.

A number of these sites had other links, but if you use these links, you will find the others and I felt no need to list them. If you have others or your own to be included, let me know. So far, these are the ones that I intend to include on my RRs of Madison County.

Roger, I'm sorry I forgot to recommend IE (as much as I dislike it) as Netscape does not support the "marquis" code and a few other things I have on there. :( [IMG]
That's quite a list. I will have to look and see if there are others I have seen, but doubt it, and as you say, the links are there. Railroad.net has a NYC forum but it is not nearly as active as it used to be since it went off and reappeared months later. [IMG] [IMG]

Looks like you have em all. As a matter of information, Noel Widdifield, who did the NYC Hudson writeup on the link you provided, was an RSO (reconnaissance systems officer) in the SR-71 9th Recon Wing in the US Air Force. In 1974 he was the RSO along with pilot Jim Sullivan who set a speed record from New York to London of One hour, 55 minutes for the 3490 miles, averaging 1807mph. The airplane landed at Farnborough and remained there for the air show. I was there with Lockheed as a member of the L-1011 crew, also with an airplane on display. [IMG]

A friend identified this site for me. It's a really interesting link. There are several NYC recordings there, but try the 9+ minute recording of Niagara 6018 as it accelerates from Tower 47 almost to Depew...Takes your breath away!

Saw the post above re the SR-71 Blackbird fan of NYC Hudsons. (It figures that a crewman from the best and fastest plane in the world would also like Hudsons. I would have expected no less...!)
I am having trouble accessing this site now, will try again later.

Wow, what a recording! Talk about a blast from the past. That engineer just roofed the throttle and let her run. What a smooth sounding engine! But then, we're talking New York Central. Thanks for that link, Tom. I can't believe how quickly it loaded. [IMG]
