After letting my Railpace magazine subscription expire a few years ago and also having moved out of the area, I was wondering what trains are running over Sussy Q's former Lehigh & Hudson River Line (through Warwick, NY) these days since the Conrail sale. Does NS or CSX run any stacks over the line? What about all the talk of commuter trains?
Don, from what I've heard NS and CSX do not run any stack trains on NYS&W. I believe the CSX traffic that NYS&W used to get at BUF, then along the Southern Tier to BGM then south has dried up since the end of Conrail. All B30-8s are now off the roster, as well as the wide-cabs, and NYS&W has been picking up some used SD40s recently. I'll check with a couple of local NYS&W fans and see if I can get anymore info for you. The commuter train idea seems to be still alive but last I read there were funding problems. Bill
Thanks Bill. I wonder if NYS&W still runs that little manifest train from NJ out to Binghamton? I've seen it a few times. Seems like a waste of a good route.
