My friend currently has an O layout that's basically two independent loops. He want to rip out one of the loops and make that On3, and add a yard and some switching (for only the On3 section). He also wants to install sound decoders on both O and On3 locos. Is there a DCC system that would allow him to control trains & sound for both O & On3 loops, or is he better off keeping the O loop DC (with something like a MRC Tech 6 to control the sound) and an independant DCC system for the On3. As a "N"ormal scale guy (and who's electrically challenged), I appreciate any info on the voltage, amp & sound requirements for an "O"versized and On3 layout (that has about 80' of track per independent loop). Thanks for any / all suggestions & info!
I have a System 1 that is a clone to NCE which I bought specifically for O scale. I also plan on using it for my S scale so I would think NCE would work for both systems. Chances of having duplicate numbers for your engines are nil I'd guess, otherwise watch the amp rating of the decoders and actual amps needed for the engines. I hope this helps. Greg
I suspect that NCE would have a solution seeing as though the owner of the company is an O scale modeler. Their customer support is excellent and their products are very user friendly. Dave
