Well, I took a trip down to the LA county fair with a friend of mine who is into O scale.

He is probibly one of the best modelars I know. He pays attention to every detail and get this.......he has around 100 BRASS O scale locomotives!!!!!!!! AND, almost ALL of his cars are brass (tons of them).

Any way, he's all into GM&O and that was about it for a long time but just about two weeks ago he got three new locomotives. He got a Demo SD70M, BNSF H II SD70MAC and a SF SD75M. OOOOHHHHHH they are sweet!!! It is just amazing how much detail can be put on a model!

Has any one else seen these or experienced that same......WWWOOOOWWWW feeling?

I have a live steam USRA 2-10-2 in 0 gauge and a small consist of 4 box cars (0g American rolling stock is very difficult to come by in UK).

The loco runs on butane gas and was converted to live steam operation from its original Japanese electric incarnation.

After years of 3 rail tinplate, I have taken on a couple of 2 rail projects. One is to take a Weaver GP38-2 and make a GP40-2 out of it. There is a surprising amount of parts out there to do the project. I also like the direction Lionel is taking with their scale equipment, such as the C420.

I wish I could Alan. Everytime I ask him if he has been checking his E mail he just tells me, "Oh, I hate that damn thing!" He's a pretty funny guy.

On another note. He got two 5 car Gunderson double stack sets made by Pecos River Brass and those things don't run worth a damn! (and thats the cencored version!) We had more derailments with them than I have EVER had in my life with ANY scale. Was not a pleasant experience, espeacaily with the price he paid for them!!

I am new to the Model Railroad threads but I thought I would join to be able to share some of the O scale 2-rail work we are now doing on our new Nostalgia Trip model railroad.

We started in O scale after years of working in HO, touring with a 18X34 sectional layout at NMRA conventions, Soo Line conventions, and train shows in several states.

We are modeling 1956 Soo Line after steam was finally gone (Mainly because specific steam for the Soo is nonexistant) and I build the locomotives and rolling stock, my wife builds all the buildings.

Here is a You Tube video we made some time back

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUKBta8gaQA

I am looking forward to hearing from other Soo Line modelers. RG

Not really a modeler. My Christmas layout is posted. It's a Lionel MTH mix. I'm mostly a dabbler, but I'm here...

my dad used to do some stuff with Lionel 3 rail equipment from the 50's/60's/70's, but he quit awhile ago. When I was 9 I unearthed the old boxes of stuff (unfortunately he never really took much care of his stuff so it was all pretty much junk), but even still it was pretty cool. Now 7 years later, I have restored many of the old Lionel pieces to operable condition, and they are in service on my Lionel O scale layout. :tb-biggrin:

I post very occasionally here - just not enough time it seems. I have a layout with about 290 sqft of benchtop and 330 feet of mainline on three loops and mostly model the Southwest US - UP and ATSF, in the 1950s although my layout is new and not much scenery put in place. I have a few scale big locos: a JLC Big boy, MTH GTEL, Lionel Veranda Turbine and an MTH Northern, and a bunch of semi scale stuff, two big boys, northerns, Y6Bs, pacifics and an ABA set of F3s with 8 K-line aluminum passenger cars.
I've spent a lot of time working on Superstreets laytely: first, learning how to remove the guts of the Lionel "toy" cars and place them in O-scale model vehicles so I have some really good looking models running around: I have about eight 50s era cars converted now - '54 Chrysler 300, '53 Chevy, '57 Chevy, '54 Caddy convertible, Buick roadmaster, etc., and a '54 Ford pickup and a Mack semi-tractor. Now I'm building a multi-loop of Superstreets on my layout: country road and three loops in town. This means learning to custom build superstreets roads, etc. , which is easy (just modify track) but takes patience to bend it over hills,
