It is with great sadness that I report the death of O. Winston Link, arguably one of the greatest railroad photographers ever.
Link was known worldwide for his photographic skills, but even more so for his night photographs of Norfolk & Western steam power. These shots were dome with the cooperation of the railroad, and included such side scenes as a drive-in theater, children swimming beneath a railroad bridge, and a car being filled with gas.
Link, 86, died of an apparent heart attack while en route to a New York hospital.
