After exchanging my malfunctioning digital camera for another (and hopefully more mechanically reliable) one, I field-tested it on some locomotives that are commonly seen here in Sherman.

At the Texas Northeasten depot (ex-MP, nee T&P) I got picks of three diesels that are stored dead for various reasons. The above pic is of TNER GP9 25, an ex-Great Northern engine. It's stored unservicable, according to TNER/DGNO.

New England Central GP38 3859, also out of service. The hood doors on the fireman's side are all open, and there is an engine block sitting next to it- doesn't sound too good.

RMPX SW1500 2482, an ex-SP switcher. It had a main generator replaced about 3 months ago, and has been stored servicable ever since. Normally, it would be seen in service down in the Dallas area.

EconoRail SW9 7225, an ex-Grand Trunk Western goat, is the plant switcher for the Con-Agra flour mill. TNER brings loaded whean hoppers to the mill, and the switcher shuffles them in & out of the unloading facility. Outbound wheat midds go by rail, while the flour is shipped out by truck (there is a loading port for hoppers, but BNSF hasn't switched a hopper there in over a year now).

SOrry about the fences & vegetation, but TNER frowns on folks just wandering on their property without permission, and since this is winter, this is the best angle to get those shots.

Later on, I'll try to get some daylight shots of the motive power and rolling stock used on the rock trains operated by BNSF and DGNO (the latter using either SD45-2s from Helm or SD45T-2s from CEFX)

The colors seem to be coming through very nicely. Great reproduction of the blue.

That NECR Geep must be down vacationing for the winter. [IMG] Looking for a warm place to stay.

RA has a nasty habit of scattering the motive power of the various member lines all over the place. On the Kiamichi, for instance, you can sit at a railroad crossing in Hugo or Durant & watch a KRR freight roll by powered by Indiana & Ohio and Georgia Southwestern GP40s. Only place you may even catch a Kiamichi unit would be on the Paris Switcher (the Soup Train, named for the massive Campbell Soup plant) or in Ashdown, AR.

TNER/DGNO's power consists look like dog's breakfasts, with all (and I mean ALL) the units coming from one lessor or another (Helm, CEFX, LLPX). Which is why a Connecticut (sp)Yankee locomotive can find itself catching rays in Texas.
