Does anyone have any info on the proposed deal by Ohio Central to purchase some of the ex-Pennsy Panhandle line? I saw a short article on this topic about a week and a half ago, but haven't heard a thing about it since. Thanks for any input!

Heard this was getting squashed by the Wheeling in court. Dunno what the details are.

    Thanks.

What part of this line were they actually looking at purchasing?

Neil .. I have no information to answer your question .. but, I would like to welcome you to Trainboard by saying that we appreciate your interest and participation. I think you will find that Trainboard is, if not "the"most friendly place on the internet .. it is certainly one of the most friendly places to discuss our passion for railroading and modeling. Again, I say welcome. [IMG]

Thanks for the welcome Bill. I am looking forward to hanging around this place ;) I am only really involved with two other boards on the net besides this one, but there seems to be quite the helpful attitude here! :D So I figured, why not?

    Neil-

    Welcome aboard!

In past years, I have heard references to a PRR "Panhandle" line. Can someone explain to me where this portion of the PRR once ran? Was this anything to do with their Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago & St.Louis subsidiary?

    :D

    Boxcab-

Yes, this did have something to do with the PCC&StL. The Panhandle is an often confusing route. Depending on the time period and person you ask, you may get 10 different answers as to what the Panhandle Route was exactly. But to simply answer your question using my understanding of what it is in "nowadays" terms...

This line is the Pennsy line that ran from Pittsburgh to St Louis.

Someone else maybe able to fill you in on the exact details of the history of this route.
