Here are some pics from this year's TB Deshler meet. Sadly I wasn't there but Johnny's pics make me feel as if I were. I shall let him explain them. Enjoy! Pic#1: Pic#2: Pic#3: Pic#4: Pic#5: [ 12. September 2003, 01:10: Message edited by: rush2ny ]
Actually, they are Ohio pictures but not from Deshler. What I wanted to show is the colorful Indiana and Ohio Railroad. Between the engines that they own and the engines that they lease, the motive power can be really fun to watch! And except for the big 70 Mac from the Susie Q (photo to follow soon) most of their stuff is pretty old! The first, second, third and fifth photos were taken in the I&O yard in Cincinnati. The fourth photo was an I&O train in the CSX Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. Note the sanders working full blast as that ex-BN engine pulls those cars through the yard. Man, it was really hot and humid that day, and as you can see the sky was not the greatest for photography. A nice blue sky would have helped! Special thanks to Russ for posting them for me! Russ, I have some goodies from Deshler for you so we have to get together soon! Plus, a very very special thanks to Ed (Edtrian) for the tour of the I&O yard and of course for our private tour of the Queensgate yard that we were blessed with! ed also developed 10 rolls of film for me and had them to me quite promptly too!!!!!!!! *GRRRRRR* You just had to take photos of Green Weenies, didn't you.... Other than the subject, nice photos... -B
>I have to answer him in DEHLSERBONICS.< Those "shiny" Green Weenies???????????? They certainly are far from "suspicious" now aren't they, Brian?
Thanks Russ! That Harley one was taken in Deshler on Sunday Aug. 24th. We had 300 bikes doing a Poker Run all through the town!
Brian, If it's any consolation, those GP50s were ex-Frisco, and woulda been delivered in red & white had the merger been delayed. I'm surprised those first-generation Geeps are still on the property. Kiamichi got rid of all their early Geeps this year (look for a burgundy & white GP9 on a shortline near you), and it's my understanding that all the 567-powered stuff is to be gotten rid of. Great shots, fellas!
Bob, that's no consolation, a green weenie is a green weenie, is a green weenie is a... You get the idea. Those I&O-painted units are all in the dead line, unless one has been returned to service in the past year. For the whole summer there was only one I&O-painted unit on the system, and that was kept on a backwards branch (in an enginehouse, too) down in southeastern Ohio. *GRRRR*
Well, I enjoyed myself green weenies or not. Now, I'm going to have to find green weenies here to send you Brian.
You can address them to Mr. Weenie, Peru, Indiana.... BLAH BLAH BLAH (And if you're wondering, there is actually an eatery in Peru called "Mr. Weenie"!)
Ah.......what's that ice cream place in fostoria called? WHIPPY DIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know the old saying: "A GREEN WEENIE AND A WHIPPY DIP BY DAY, A RAILFAN'S DELIGHT. A GREEN WEENIE AND WHIPPY DIP BY NIGHT, A RAILFAN'S FRIGHT!!!!" *bubbles* *ouch* *raspberry* *raspberry* *raspberry* [ 08. September 2003, 23:18: Message edited by: Johnny Trains ]
The icing on the cake for us East Coast folks that don't get many roads to view....Susie-Q in Ohio!!!!:
Thanks Russ. That's one of four leased Susie Q 70 Macs leased to the I&O. 4050 is seen traveling through Leipsic, Oh. 8/24/03.
I guess that the Susy isn't doing as much business as I thought if they could lease out some of their limited roster! Russ
Green Weenies? Watch it..... Mine aren't as neat as the shortline ones, but out in WY, all I have is 2 choices. When on vacation, I shot these in North Jackson, OH: [ 15. September 2003, 20:00: Message edited by: HemiAdda2d ]
The Conrail caboose is excellent! Red???????? Hey Russ, see the Susie Q doesn't even have another 70 Mac to lease! I shouldn't talk. It's my favorite railroad. But I did think it was 4. My bad.
Here is a pic of what was found the day after the railfan parties! Almost like crop circles of the foamers!
Must have been a fan of Buckeye football? I didn't know that Conrail had a red caboose? Or is that paint scheme something that came about after the NS/CSX acquisition of CR? Boxcab E50 [ 18. September 2003, 03:06: Message edited by: BoxcabE50 ]
