The train to Montrose was late yesterday...didn't arrive until sometime around 7 pm. My son and I had given up on it and headed to the movie store when I heard the rumble. We both dropped our movies right there in the isles and ran for the door (to the surprise of the movie store employees and the patrons!). We got to the parking lot just in time to see the train pulling by. My 4-year-old saw the difference in the train first "Daddy, that one is different!" Through the growing dark I spotted what his keen eyes had immediately seen: an old SP Geep was heading the train followed by DRGW 3118. It was dark, cold and snowing and as much as we wanted to follow the train on its switching duties, we decided to return to the store. I do have a question. Since I do not know my diesels at all, does anyone know what the 3118 is classified as?? Geep 30?? Thanks and Happy railroading!

Unless the Borg has renumbered it, 3118 is a GP40-2. Here is an interesting photo taken a few years ago. Anybody want to try modeling that? [IMG]

Good to hear that 3118 is still kicking around, and not renumbered or repainted. [IMG] I'll pass on modeling the tagging...I'm not much of a fan of it, although it's in my era. [IMG] I hated taking a picture of it with all the gibberish covering up the Rio Grnde, but hey, what can you do? [IMG] But that graffiti would make an interesting decal....

I'll also take a miss on the modeling of grafitti...I see too much of it in real life!! So she is a Geep 40-2. When were these built and what are their specs? Thanks

    John,

I don't know if you have looked that site over good or not. It has links to the DPL photo collection that has almost every Rio Grande steam engine they ever had. You can spend hours going through the photos [IMG].
