For those who have an interest, this is a very detailed site containing perhaps every American RR known to man. http://laurent.aublette.free.fr/en/intro_en.html
Moved this over here as a general topic. Hope a few more people will take a look They do have a lot of companies shown. I see some mistakes. And they'll be working quite a while, just to get all the common carriers listed. An enormous undertaking. Boxcab E50
Ken, there are almost all of the predecessors and components of the New York Central and Hudson River RR there. I didn't try to find all of them but it looks like a pretty good start. No real maps to show, though.
Good site, i wouold imagine it's still a work in progress as I see a couple lines missing from the CSX and B&O tree listings.
That's a great site, and shows a lot of work. One very minor, although very personal disappointment, the New York & Harlem Railroad is missing... The NY&HR was chartered on April 25, 1831 began operation on November 26, 1832, then was leased by the New York Central on April 1, 1873, becoming its Harlem Division.
Andy- I noted same. With all those other obscure companies shown, surprising for a RR of that size, to as yet be without data. Also saw that they'd misspelled C&NW. Northwestern Instead of North Western. Boxcab E50
Hello, thank you for your interest and your comments. I'm alone to do this job, so I'm sorry if some of you are disappointed because their favorite RR is not detailled in the site. Help is welcome. Best regards, Laurent
Welcome to TrainBoard!!!!!!! I like the idea behind your design and makes me think how I might do the same just for the history of the Delaware and Hudson.
Thanks for the link and thanks to LORAN_O for the tedious work in putting together the railraod trees (a labor of love, no doubt). I am enjoying this site very much and look forward to designing my own avatar. Will take my time so as not to duplicate anything that has already been done. I am from a Texas and Pacific family via the Southern Pacific (father employed 1943-71).
