Have JMRI running on a raspberry pi b3 with arduino and motorshield. works great with regular decoders but NOT with a sound decoder. Won't recognize it and returns the decoder as one with no profile. I have heard that some sound decoders can only be programmed in "page or direct" mode with JMRI. Problem is that my install of JMRI within DCC++ has neither. I have reloaded JMRI from the dcc++ site and still no workey. Any ideas?
Hi Dan - I know nothing about DCC++ and only slightly more about JMRI. However, I know JMRI has been adding new decoders to DecoderPro with each new version and was wondering if you are using the most recent version. Also, if you have not yet joined the JMRI user's group, you can get expert help by doing so: https://groups.io/g/jmriusers - Jeff
I used direct byte on jmri, have you changed the settings on the pi to allow all modes? Do you have a dedicated programming track or are you programming on main? Other than checking it worked, I don’t actually do any programming on the pi, I do it on the mac, load the roster on a usb, and import it to the pi.
Sorry for delay in responding. I have a dedicated programming track. I have not done anything on the pi to allow all modes? Not sure how to do that. Suggestions?
It is the settings, when you first start using Jmri on pi, about half the modes are turned off, or are on internal / simulation mode. You need to turn all those on to DCC++ and save changes.
