I am looking for an aluminum or chrome paint that shines like the cap. About all I have used and all the techniques I have tried, make them less than brite, more like plain siver to gray.

Any suggestion for an off the shelf spray can?

    Thanks

    Gil

Hi Gil. Look in the N scale forum and look for
"Techniques for shiny aluminum passenger cars".
I asked a similar question there sevral weeks ago.

I'm sorry Gil. It's right here in the Inspection Pit, NOT in the N scale forum.

The Eastwood Company, which specializes in auto restoration supplies, has a chrome spray paint. I've also seen some at Fleet Farm here in Wisconsin.

I will say this from experience.... Good ole Rustoleum "Chrome" spray paint is the best out of can onto whatever chrome you'll find! I used it for alot of things that I wanted Chrome! Its like $6 a can but its exactly what it shows to be in the can cap! Give it a try and see for yourself. I know you wouldn't be disappointed!

If you just have to "chrome" a small piece, I've seen "chrome" nail polish. I can't remember who makes it. I've seen it in "steel", "chrome", "platinum", and several metallicized olors. It may be hard on plastic through, so I'd try it out on something before using it on something of value. I've never tried it before, but it may fill a need some time.....

Those were great tips. I will find some nail polish and keep on hand for touch ups also. Once again, thanks.

Have a wonderfull Thanksgiving you guys.
