Yeah, I have a couple. I like the Multi-Blue-Gray-Black and Gold Pinstripe on E and F units. And Royal Blue Body, Yellow Sill, Big B&O on the side and Cap-Dome on the Nose in Yellow.

    I do,
I love the Blue, Gray, Black, with delux gold pin stripes for starters. And the first generation paint scheme with the double pin stripes with "Baltimore And Ohio" written out on the long hood Which would have been on the SD-7's and GP-7's. And the sunburst scheme. With the dotted yellow stripe on the side sills. The over all Blue dip isn't bad but its plain and general But its the B&O we're talking about so... I love 'em all ;) ~John.

I love the original schemes on the E units and the scheme applied to the passenger GP7's and 9's. Really I love all the schemes. And as John says, its the B&O, love em all. Currently repainting some E8 units in the final blue scheme, not too bad but when you get older and the eyes arn't so good anymore, those number boards get hard to decal.

I'm with all you guys,my favorite scheme is certainly the passenger scheme. But they all were good looking.About the only one I can't take is the C&O inspired scheme. The B&O will never die!!!!!talk to any CSX official, and they will tell you that the B&O trackage makes them the bucks....7600EM_1,your one lucky guy!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

    Royal Blue,
Yeah i'm lucky. Too bad I don't own a scanner I could send you all kinds of pictures of Sand Patch with the B&O, Chessie System and CSX. I own alittle of each road in HO scale and my layout is of the B&O in the 1940's to the 1960's. But I freelance and run Chessie and CSX on it too at times but its made specially for the B&O. I'm only 22 years old but all my great great, great and regular grandfather's and all my uncles worked for the B&O and one went from the Western Maryland to the B&O so I have the "railroad blood" And after I got into railroading they all gave me their pictures of the roads they had and now I have a decent size archive of photographs.

My layout goes from Cumberland, MD to Connelsville, PA on a 8x16,and a 8x14 foot layout that makes an "L" shape in my basement. I got the Sand Patch tunnel for the B&O and the Big Mt. Savage tunnel for the western Maryland modeled. I also scratch built the Salisbury Viaduct for the Western Maryland and thats something to see as well but the best part of the whole layout is the Sand Patch Grade I modeled. Its got a less then 1% grade but I make it look realistic and run 3 customized EM-1's and 2 EL-5's. The EM's on the point and the EL's lending a hand on the rear. Sometimes I'll latch up the 3, EM's and 2, S-1's on the rear just for the proto-type.

    Royal Blue,
I'll agree with you on the merger of the B&O and C&O scheme I never liked that one to be honest. Actually I forgot about it I mean the blue and gray or silver didn't do anything for me. Besides that the B&O is all that matters I don't preticularly care for the C&O myself beside the fact that they "tried" to copy the B&O in ways. That at least kept the B&O alive for awhile. Other than that i'm not into the C&O alot. I do have Chessie stuff in HO but nothing straight C&O.

LONG LIVE the B&O Guys keep it alive......

    John,
Some people have all the luck. There a a few aussie fans of the B&O, but we get little information etc down here, so I surf the net for books and info and gradually getting there. I'm in N gauge and have a LARGE collection of just about everything made in BO/CS/CSX so I can run as Bo/CS or CS/CSX or whatever. Love it...
I intended to visit for 3 months in October this year but heard they are going to have celebrations in 2002 for the B&O anniversay so holding off. Couldn't miss that and then I can have a look at the great system and take it all in firsthand.
I havn't yet got a scanner either and I live next to the main line from Adelaide to Melbourne, 2% grade with National Rail diesels and Australian Southern in Genessee & Wyoming colours running. Most of our current diesels are modelled on dash 9 running gear and electrics but custom bodies.
My n scale layout is a L shape about 15ft by 18 ft, fully scenicked and lit but freelanced on the WV/PA area.

Keep up the info on the B&O fellas, there is interested people all over the world.

I saw a B&O locmotive paired with 2 CSX GP38-2s a cuple years ago (probably a GP40) it was in the sunburst paint. althoiugh it was so rusted that there were holes in the walkway, i loved the sight of it. I wish I had the camera, or remember the number but I remeber it was between 2629 and 2673

Thats one out of a million!!!!! You don't get to see a real live B&O loco in todays world!!!! I think that last one I got to see was in 1993 or 94, but anyway I got a picture of it. It was a B&O GP-30, its sad I can't post the picture of it. I also managed to get a shot of a old Clinchfield loco SD-40in their all black paint scheme...... :D

    A&A,
It was GP-30 #4253. Thats the renumber for CSX after they got the loco. As for its shape its looks great!!! Alittle shabby though from weather and its faded bad but all the lettering is visable. Its in one of my favorite paint schemes. All Enhancment Blue With Yellow lettering "The Sunburst Scheme" With the yellow dotted stripe on the side sill and the Sunburst one the ends of the hoods, framing the B&O capitol dome.

This preticular picture was taken in a town called Garrett, PA, in 1993 Which is about 5 minutes out of my home town of Meyersdale, PA.

If you want I can have it xerox copied and mail one to you!!! I'm sorry I can't put a picture online, I don't own a scanner yet
 if your interested drop a line in here...... :D

My favorite is the solid blue dip job paint with the yellow frame stripe and Capitol Dome. [IMG]

I have to agree with slow-approach.

I like the blue dip-job. Mostly because it's an easy scheme to paint.

But, I also like it because it's what I saw when I was growing up in the D.C. suburbs.

I also like the three-tone Chessie scheme with B&O lettering on the cab.

But, I have to admit that the old passenger gray, blue and black scheme looks pretty good on those Life-Like E-8s I have.

I had fun reading this post.
